Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has escaped a ban after admitting he thought his French insurance covered him in the UK.

After being stopped by police in November last year on the A3 in Hook, Surrey, Didier Drogba, one of Chelsea's leading strikers, has pleaded guilty to driving without a valid licence at Kingston magistrates' court. He was fined £560 but not banned. His international licence had expired, but he claimed he thought he was insured from his French insurance policy in the UK.
