A marketing and sales tool based on mobile phone technology has been developed for the insurance industry.
Infronics Technologies, which designed eZSMS, said the business messaging system could be used to send individual, filtered and updated text messages to insurance customers.
Jag Eturi, chief executive officer at Infronics Technology, said: "SMS marketing is not about mass promotional offers but specific customer interest. No one wants to receive junk mail by text, but clients will sign up for valued offers and reminders. We believe eZSMS can provide the right framework for an effective SMS marketing strategy for any business."
The eZSMS features include specific enquiry response through individual and tailored texts and tailored bulk texts to specific market groups - retail and wholesale - that can be product or client-specific, such as renewal reminders. The service will also provide automated scheduling for the status of client orders or can send reminders.
Bram van den Berg, director at BvdB, which is acting as a consultant to Infronics, said: "This is the only software solution that will allow businesses to study their current database and extract real value from it. Insurers and brokers will now be able to reach out to clients on both specific and general enquiries, thereby increasing client response and converting this into sales."
He added: "UK businesses need to improve in customer services - this is an opportunity for brokers and insurers to distinguish themselves among their peers, particularly for brokers, as customers demand a high level of service from them. In addition, eZSMS can help control general operating costs by reducing postage, for example."
Mr Eturi said SMS services would be used more frequently in the future: "This technology is already used in other industries, such as by dental practices, which text appointment times to their clients. However, we have not seen much of a selected, filtered text message marketing campaign. This is a good solution for the insurance industry."
